The main scope of this paper is to provide a counterexample to an open question formulated in [\textit{M. Crampon}, J. Mod. Dyn. 3, No. 4, 511--547 (2009; Zbl 1189.37034)], concerning the possibility to write the volume growth entropy of the distance to an open bounded convex finite-dimensional set as a limit, showing thus that this property known in some special cases does not hold in general. Another related result is provided in the last section of the paper, where a Hilbert domain in the plane which is a ``polygon'' having infinitely many vertices and whose volume growth entropy is a limit that is equal to zero is constructed.
