Let \(K\) be a compact subset of the real line with positive logarithmic capacity \(\mathrm{Cap}(K)\) and let \(\mu_{K}\) be the equilibrium measure of \(K\). For any positive integer \(n\), let \[ W_{n}(\mu_{K})=\frac{||P_{n,\mu_{K}}||_{L^{2}(\mu_{K})}}{\mathrm{Cap}(K)^{n}}, \] where \(P_{n,\mu_{K}}\) is the \(n\)-th monic orthogonal polynomial for \(\mu_{K}\). In the paper under review, the author studies the behavior of \(W_{n}(\mu_{K})\). The main result of the paper states that \[ W_{n}(\mu_{K})\geq 1, \] for all \(n\). To prove the above inequality, the author considers inverse images of admissible polynomials. A polynomial \(T_{N}\) of degree \(N\) having \(N\) real and simple zeros is called admissible if \(|T_{N}(y_{i})|\geq 1\), \(i=1,2,...,(N-1)\), where \(y_{1}\), \(y_{2},...,y_{N-1}\) are the critical points of \(T_{N}\).
