The authors present a new non-symmetric coupling of the finite volume method and the boundary element method to solve a transmission problem, i.e., a convection-diffusion-reaction problem in an interior domain coupled with a diffusion process in an unbounded exterior domain. The resulting scheme maintains local flux conservation. The ellipticity property is shown for both the continuous problem and the discrete system. This allows to prove the existence and uniqueness, convergence, and an a priori error estimate. Some numerical examples are presented to confirm the theoretical results.
