For a particular class of polynomial dynamical systems in the plane, the authors answer the question of when exactly the origin is a center and when it is an isochronous one. In this class of systems the degrees of the polynomials are unbounded. The motivation for the problem is to give a unified treatment for various special cases dealt with in the literature.
