Quasi-interpolation is a highly useful alternative to interpolation to data in one or more dimensions. It is especially useful if some smoothing of the input data is required or if the interpolation problem is too inefficient to solve. In this paper, B-spline quasi-interpolation is studied, on equally spaced points and on sparse grids. A study of the operational cost included, as well as the approximation order and numerical examples.
