    This paper is partly a complement of the results on the Gaussian Hardy spaces; see \textit{G. Mauceri} and \textit{S. Meda} [J. Funct. Anal. 252, No. 1, 278--313 (2007; Zbl 1136.46027)]. The authors consider the conical square function \[ S_au(x)= \left(\int_{\Gamma_x^a(\gamma)} \frac1{\gamma(B(y,t))} |t\nabla e^{-t^2 L} u(y)|^2\,d\gamma(y)\,\frac{dt}{t} \right)^{1/2} \] and the non-tangential maximal function \[ T_a^* u(x)= \sup_{(y,t)\in\Gamma_x^a(\gamma)} \left( \frac1{\gamma(B(y,t))}\int_{B(y,t)} | e^{-t^2 L} u(z)|^2\,d\gamma(z) \right)^{1/2}, \] where \(a\in(0,\infty)\), \(\gamma\) is the Gauss measure, \(L\) is the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operator and \[ \Gamma_x^a(\gamma)= \{ (y,t)\in\mathbb R^n\times (0,\infty): |y-x|<t< a\min\{1,1/|x|\}\}. \] The main result is that for any \(a\in(0,\infty)\) there is an \(a'\in(0,\infty)\) such that for all \(u\in C_c(\mathbb R^n)\), \[ \|S_au\|_{L^1(\mathbb R^n,\gamma)}\leq C_{a,n} \|T_a^* u\|_{L^{1}(\mathbb R^n,\gamma)}, \] where \(C_{a,n}\) is a positive constant depending only on \(a,n\).
