The authors claim that they have developed a universal theory for the routes to chaos in dynamical systems, which covers all classical three-dimensional chaotic ODE systems, such as the Lorenz equations, the Rössler attractor, Chua's circuit and Duffing's equation. For the proofs of the method the reader is referred to other articles by the authors. The main idea of the theory is to construct a nonlinear 2-dimensional map whose linearization at the trivial solution is given by a Floquet transition matrix. In this article, the authors list a series of models exhibiting chaotic behaviour and claim that the findings are covered by their new universal theory. Reviewer's remark: Unfortunately, the connection of the different considered systems with the proposed map is not explained sufficiently and also the corresponding observations are stated without further explanation.
