The power crust, unions of balls, and the medial axis transform (Q5946437)

An algorithm is given for surface reconstruction from sample points: it converts the polar balls, a subset of the Voronoi balls of a surface, into a surface representation. The union of balls representation and the power crust have corresponding piecewise-linear dual representations, which approximate the medial axis: the set of poles, the centers of the polar balls converges to the medial axis.
