Matrix coefficients of the middle discrete series of \(\text{SU}(2,2)\) (Q5949558)

An explicit formula for the radial part of the matrix coefficients of the discrete series of \(\text{SU}(2,2)\) with Gelfand-Kirillov dimension 5 is obtained in terms of Gaussian hypergeometric functions and some combinatorial coefficients. The method of proof is to solve a holonomic system for the A-radial part of these matrix coefficients. This is a rather complicated difference-differential system, obtained from what the authors call Schmid differential operators. The motivations lie in automorphic forms theory, where the general results are insufficiently explicit.
