The authors consider the \(H_\infty\) control problem for a fuzzy inference system consisting of several linear systems. Since neither the state nor the fuzzy premise variables are assumed to be observable, an output feedback approach based on sampled observations is chosen. Under appropriate stabilizability and detectability conditions, the authors propose a dynamic sampled data feedback law with two parameters. In several theorems they derive criteria in terms of an associated cost functional under which the proposed controller solves the \(H_\infty\) problem with finite and infinite time horizon. The performance of the method is illustrated by a numerical example.
