The authors define for Lie triple systems the natural analogues to the Frattini subalgebra, Frattini ideal and restricted versions of these. Let \(T\) be a Lie triple system. They investigate whether counterparts to Lie algebra results hold in the triple system setting. For nilpotent \(T\), every maximal subsystem is an ideal and the Frattini subsystem coincides with the derived subsystem and also the Jacobson radical, with similar results in the restricted case. It would be interesting to know if the converses hold. If \(T\) is solvable, then the restricted Frattini subsystem is a \(p\)-ideal and a similar result holds for the Frattini subsystem. A number of results are found for the Frattini ideal and the Frattini \(p\)-ideal when \(T\) is solvable. Also, analogues to the ideals introduced by \textit{D. Towers} [Arch. Math. 35, 112--120 (1980; Zbl 0414.17002)] are investigated.
