Asymptotics for minimizers of a Donaldson functional and mean curvature 1-immersions of surfaces into hyperbolic 3-manifolds (Q6039832)

The author analyzes the asymptotic behavior of the Donaldson functional \(D_t\) as \(t\rightarrow 0+\). Possible blow-up phenoma are described, and consequently the author proves the first existence and uniqueness result about constant mean curvature 1-immersions of surfaces genus \(\mathfrak{g}=2\) into hyperbolic 3-manifolds. This is done variationally, from a strict global minimum (and unique critical point) of the Donaldson functional \(D_0\).
