      Let \[ \mathcal{A} = \left\{ f \in \mathcal{C}[0,\infty) \cap L_1[0,\infty): \limsup_{x \to \infty} |f(x)| = \infty \right\}. \] The authors study the topological and algebraic structure of the set \(\mathcal{A}\). This set is included in \(X = \mathcal{C}[0,\infty) \cap L_1[0,\infty)\), which in the paper is endowed with the distance \[ d_X(f,g) = \| f-g\|_1 + \sum_{n=1}^\infty \frac{1}{2^n} \cdot \frac{\| f-g \|_{\infty,n} }{1+\| f-g \|_{\infty,n} }, \] where \(\| f \|_{\infty,n} = \max \{ |f(x)|: x \in [0,n]\} \). For example, the authors show that, for any \(f \in \mathcal{A}\), there is a closed \(c\)-dimensional subspace \(W\) such that \(f \in W \subset \mathcal{A} \cup \{0\}\), where \(c\) is the cardinality of the real numbers.
