Let \(X\) be a normal projective variety defined over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. An endomorphism is a finite self-map \(f: X \rightarrow X\) of degree at least two. The automorphism is polarised if for some ample divisor \(H\) the pull-back \(f^* H\) is a multiple of \(H\). Toric varieties endowed with the multiplication endomorphism provide examples of this situation and a central question in this field is whether any rationally connected projective manifold admitting a polarised (or more generally int-amplified) endomorphism is toric. This problem was solved for surfaces by \textit{N. Nakayama} [Kyushu J. Math. 56, No. 2, 433--446 (2002; Zbl 1049.14029)] and for smooth Fano threefolds in a recent paper by \textit{S. Meng} et al. [Math. Ann. 383, No. 3--4, 1567--1596 (2022; Zbl 1502.14126)]. A key point in the last paper is the interaction between the endomorphism and the conic bundle structure which by Mori-Mukai's classification [\textit{S. Mori} and \textit{S. Mukai}, Manuscr. Math. 36, 147--162 (1981; Zbl 0478.14033)] exists on many smooth Fano threefolds. In this paper the authors continue the work by studying smooth Fano fourfolds admitting a conic bundle structure. They show that \(X\) admits a polarised/int-amplified endomorphism if and only if \(X\) is toric.
