The Dirichlet-to-Neumann map (DN map) for the semilinear equation \((-\Delta_g + V) u + q u^2 = 0\) on a conformally transversally anisotropic manifold uniquely determines the potential \(q\). The functions \(q\) and \(V\) are assumed to be smooth and \(V\) a priori known. The DN map is known for sufficiently small and sufficiently smooth Dirichlet data. This article extends the results in [\textit{A. Feizmohammadi} and \textit{L. Oksanen}, J. Differ. Equations 269, No. 6, 4683--4719 (2020; Zbl 1448.58016); \textit{M. Lassas} et al., J. Math. Pures Appl. (9) 145, 44--82 (2021; Zbl 1460.35395)]. The approach is to consider higher order linearizations, here up to fourth derivatives, though the nonlinearity is only of second degree, thus overdifferentiating the equation by two orders. The authors use complex geometric optics solutions, Gaussian quasimodes, Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin-type approximations and Carleman estimates. They also prove a boundary determination result.
