The main aim of this article under review is to generalize a previous result of \textit{O. Robert} and \textit{P. Sargos} [J. Reine Angew. Math. 591, 1--20 (2006; Zbl 1165.11067)], dealing with a triple sum of type II of a monomial function, to a sum of the same shape with a small perturbation in the function, which then lose its monomiality. Robert and Sargos' estimate turns out to be the best current result of this type, so that the challenge for the authors was to show that this perturbation did not lead to a loss in the final estimate. The authors succeeded in this challenge, using essentially the same ideas as in Robert and Sargos' paper. This generalization was made possible by an extension of Bombieri and Iwaniec's double large sieve inequality, which is the main novelty in this work. The authors then apply their result to prove the following asymptotic formula \[ \sum_{n \leqslant x} \Lambda \left( \lfloor x/n \rfloor\right) = C x + O \left( x^{17/36 + \varepsilon}\right), \] where \(C := \sum_{n=1}^\infty \frac{\Lambda(n)}{n(n+1)} \approx 0.4498 \dotsc\), improving the previous results obtained in [the reviewer, Int. J. Number Theory 18, No. 9, 2053--2074 (2022; Zbl 1502.11100)] and [\textit{K. Liu} et al., Indag. Math., New Ser. 33, No. 2, 388--396 (2022; Zbl 1487.11087)].
