The paper is devoted to the evolution equation with delay and initial date \[ \left\{\begin{array}{l} u'(t)+Au(t)=f(t,u(t),u_t),\,\,\,t\ge 0,\\ u(t)=\phi(t),\,\,\,t\in [-r,0], \end{array}\right.\tag{1} \] in the ordered Banach space \(E\), where \(A:D(A)\subset E\to E\) is a linear operator with \(-A\) generating a \(C_0\)-semigroup \(T(t),\,\,t\ge 0\) on \(E\). The function \(f:\mathbb{R}_+\times E\times\mathcal{B}\to E\) is given, with \(\mathcal{B}=C([-r,0],E)\), \(u_t\in\mathcal{B}\) is the history state defined by \(u_t(s)=u(t+s)\) for \(t\in [0,\infty)\), \(s\in [-r,0]\), and \(\phi\in \mathcal{B}\). By using the monotone iterative technique, the authors prove the existence of minimal positive \(S\)-asymptotically \(\omega\)-periodic mild solutions of problem \((1)\), without assuming the existence of upper and lower solutions. They also use the generalized Arzela-Ascoli theorem and the generalized Kuratowski measure of noncompactness. Some applications to partial differential equations are finally addressed.
