This paper is a survey about the local dynamics of holomorphic maps near a fixed point in one and several variables from the point of view of formal and analytic normalizations. The first part is devoted to the one-dimensional case, introducing the formal and analytic conjugations and the related small-divisor problems. The second part deals with the higher dimensional case, presenting the formal normalization of Poincaré-Dulac and several generalizations of the Brjuno condition that guarantee convergence of the full or partial normalization. The last part reviews a recent application studied in [\textit{F. Bracci} and \textit{D. Zaitsev}, J. Eur. Math. Soc. (JEMS) 15, No. 1, 179--200 (2013; Zbl 1351.37080); \textit{F. Bracci} et al., J. Eur. Math. Soc. (JEMS) 23, No. 2, 639--666 (2021; Zbl 1469.37036); \textit{J. Reppekus}, Ann. Mat. Pura Appl. (4) 200, No. 4, 1813--1840 (2021; Zbl 1480.37056)] of such a partial normalization to highlight the local dynamics near certain one-resonant fixed points.
