The authors study bitangential interpolation problems in the generalized Schur class \({\mathcal S}_k^{p\times q}(\Omega_+)\) of \(p\times q\) matrix valued functions meromorphic in \(\Omega_+\) (where \(\Omega_+\) is the right half-plane \(\Pi_+\) or the unit disc \(\mathbb D\) of the complex plane), with the additional requirement that the kernel \[ \Lambda_{\omega}^f(\lambda)=\frac{I_p-f(\lambda)f(\omega)^*}{\rho_{\omega}(\lambda)} \] has \(k\) negative squares in \(\mathfrak h_f^+\times \mathfrak h_f^+\), where \(\mathfrak h_f^+\) is the domain of holomorphy of the matrix valued function \(f\), \(\rho_{\omega}(\lambda)=1-\lambda\overline{\omega}\) if \(\Omega_+=\mathbb D\), and \(\rho_{\omega}(\lambda)=\lambda+\overline{\omega}\) if \(\Omega_+=\Pi_+\). The authors give linear fractional representations of the set of solutions of the problems posed for invertible and singular Hermitian Pick matrices.
