A smooth metric measure space is the data \((M, g, e^{-\phi}dV_g, m)\) with \((M, g)\) a smooth Riemannian manifold having \(dV_g\) as the volume form, \(\phi \) a smooth scalar field on \(M\) and \(m\) a dimensional parameter with \(0\leq m\leq \infty \); note that \(m=0\) requires \(\phi =0\). Its weighted scalar curvature is \[R^m_{\phi }:=R+2\Delta \phi -\frac{m+1}{m}|\nabla \phi |_g^2,\] where \(R\) is the scalar curvature of \(g\), \(\Delta \) is the Laplace operator and \(\nabla \) is the gradient operator. The paper studies the problem of prescribing the weighted scalar curvature. Another main result is an estimate for the first nonzero eigenvalue of the weighted Laplacian. The backward uniqueness of the weighted Yamabe flow is proved. Finally, weighted Yamabe solitons are discussed.
