Let \(\mathcal{X}\) be a \(K3\) surface admitting a Jacobian elliptic fibration \(\pi:\mathcal{X}\to\mathbb{P}^1\), that is, \(\pi\) has a section, and the Néron-Severi lattice \(L\). The classification of such surfaces is to determine possible lattices \(L\). In the paper under review, the authors classify those \(K3\) surfaces under two assumptions : the first case is where the \(K3\) surface \(\mathcal{X}\) has finite automorphism group; and the second case is where the Néron-Severi lattice should be \(2\)-elementary, and \(\mathcal{X}\) has infinite automorphism group. The results are obtained via lattice theory due to the combination of studies by Nikulin on \(2\)-elementary lattices, and by Shimada on Jacobian elliptic fibrations on \(K3\) surfaces. The classification results are respectively stated in Theorems 3.1 and 4.1, together with explicit lists of frames, which are pairs of reducible fibres and the Mordell-Weil groups, for all possible lattices \(L\). In the last part, the authors consider the question that how many distinct primitive embeddings \(j:H\hookrightarrow L\) there exist for each frame of the Jacobian elliptic fibration. Here, \(H\) is the hyperbolic lattice of rank \(2\). In Theorem 5.3, they give a criterion for the uniquness of such an embedding \(j\) in terms of the orthogonal group of the discriminant group of the lattice \(L\).
