The paper begins with a motivation coming from frame theory. Namely, the invertibility of the frame operator implies that the Gabor system is a frame, cf. [\textit{K. Gröchenig}, Foundations of time-frequency analysis. Boston, MA: Birkhäuser (2001; Zbl 0966.42020)]. Since the frame operator is a completely periodic pseudodifferential operator, see [\textit{P. Boggiatto} and \textit{G. Garello}, J. Pseudo-Differ. Oper. Appl. 11, No. 1, 93--117 (2020; Zbl 1437.42045)], the authors focus their attention to such operators. For a given periodic distribution as a symbol, periodic pseudodifferential operators are then characterized via the Fourier expansion of the symbol. Then the continuity properties are considered in the so-called time-frequency (translation-modulation) shift invariant Banach spaces. In the special case of Fourier multipliers, the necessity condition for boundedness is also given. Finally, the authors study the invertibility of introduced operators via conditions on Fourier coefficients of their symbols.
