The article focuses on the importance of curvature invariants in understanding the geometry of spacetime, with a particular emphasis on their role in detecting event horizons of black holes. The authors investigate the generalized Robertson-Walker (GRW) models, which are spacetimes characterized by \((m+1)\) dimensions and a Lorentzian warped product structure. The base of the spacetime is an open interval equipped with a metric, while the fiber is a Riemannian space of dimension m with a constant sectional curvature k. The authors refer to these spacetimes as \(L_1^{(m+1)} (k, f)\), or RW spacetimes, and seek to derive lower bounds of normalized Casorati curvatures for spacelike hypersurfaces within these spacetimes. The authors employ an approach previously developed in [\textit{S. Decu} et al., JIPAM, J. Inequal. Pure Appl. Math. 9, No. 3, Paper No. 79, 7 p. (2008; Zbl 1162.53013)] to obtain the lower bound of the generalized normalized Casorati curvatures for a specific class of spacelike hypersurfaces, denoted as H, within the GRW spacetime \(L_1^{(m+1)} (k, f)\). The derived lower bound is expressed in terms of the normalized scalar curvature of \(H\), the constant sectional curvature \(k\) of the fiber, the normal hyperbolic angle of the hypersurface, and the warping function \(f\). The goal is to determine the conditions under which this lower bound is reached. The paper presents several key findings. First, the authors successfully derive a lower bound for the generalized normalized Casorati curvatures of spacelike hypersurfaces in the GRW spacetime \(L_1^{(m+1)} (k, f)\). This lower bound is expressed in terms of the scalar curvature of the hypersurface, the constant sectional curvature of the fiber, the normal hyperbolic angle, and the warping function. The derived result provides valuable insights into the relationship between curvature invariants and the geometry of the spacetime. In conclusion, the reviewed article offers a detailed investigation into the role of curvature invariants in elucidating the geometry of spacetime, with a specific focus on GRW spacetimes. By deriving a lower bound for generalized and normalized Casorati curvatures in terms of various geometric quantities, the authors provide valuable insights into the curvature properties of spatial hypersurfaces within these spacetimes. The application of these results to different cosmological models (Lorentz-Minkowski, de Sitter, Einstein-de Sitter, anti de Sitter and stationary spacetime) further increases the significance of the research. Overall, this work, in addition to being well written, contributes to the field of spacetime geometry by relating curvature invariants to the geometric characteristics of the analyzed spacetime.
