Let \(\mathfrak{g}\) be a finite dimensional simple Lie algebra of rank \(\ell\), \(W\) the Weyl group corresponding to \(\mathfrak{g}\) and let \(m >1\) be a positive integer. The first author [Lett. Math. Phys. 111, No. 1, Paper No. 4, 32 p. (2021; Zbl 1454.13033)] defined a \(W\)-action on \(\mathcal{Y}_{m}\), where \(\mathcal{Y}_{m}\) is the rational function field on \(cm\ell\) commuting variables, where \(c \in \{1, 2, 3 \}\) depends on \(\mathfrak{g}\). This construction was motivated by the \(q\)-character map \(\chi_{q}\) of the category of finite dimensional representations of the quantum affine algebra \(U_{q}(\widehat{\mathfrak{g}})\). The first author [loc. cit.] showed that when \(q\) is a root of unity, \(\mathrm{Im} \chi_{q}\) is a subring of the \(W\)-invariant subfield \(\mathcal{Y}_{m}^{W}\) of \(\mathcal{Y}_{m}\). In the paper under review, the authors give a more detailed study on \(\mathcal{Y}_{m}^{W}\); for each reflection \(r_{i} \in W\) associated to the \(i\)th simple root, they describe the \(r_{i}\)-invariant subfield \(\mathcal{Y}_{m}^{r_{i}}\) of \(\mathcal{Y}_{m}\).
