The authors consider a reaction-diffusion PDE with a viscous relaxation term with third mixed partial derivative with a small coefficient. The spatial dimension is one. Diffusion and reaction terms are described by nonlinear functions of the unknown function (cubic polynomials). The authors focus on spectral stability of travelling waves that appear as solutions. Spectrum is of the linearized operator and consists of continuous and discrete parts. Constructing the family of travelling wave solution with a singular shock-fronted limit, the authors describe a space for them and describe their properties. Estimating the spectrum and decomposing the system into slow and fast components, the authors develop the stability theory for travelling waves.
