Let \(\mathcal E\) be a \(CM\) elliptic curve defined over a number field \(K\), with Weiestrass form \(y^2 = x^3 + bx\) or \(y^2 = x^3 + c\). For every positive integer \(m\), we denote by \(\mathcal E[m]\) the \(m\)-torsion subgroup of \(\mathcal E\) and by \(K_m:=K(\mathcal E[m])\) the \(m\)-th division field. For \(m = 3\) and \(m = 4\), explicit descriptions of all possible fields \(K_3\) and \(K_4\) in terms of generators, degrees and Galois groups were given by the second author and \textit{A. Bandini} [Monatsh. Math. 168, No. 2, 157--181 (2012; Zbl 1327.11038); J. Number Theory 169, 103--133 (2016; Zbl 1409.11045)]. The case \(m=5\) was treated by the second author in [Riv. Mat. Univ. Parma (N.S.) 9, 329--350 (2018)]). In the present paper, the authors classify all the fields \(K_7\) (Theorems 2.1 to 7.1), showing in particular explicit generators for the extension \(K_7/K\) and all possible Galois groups \(\text{ Gal}(K_7/K)\). In the last part of the paper they give some applications of their results to the local-global divisibility problem of \textit{R. Dvornicich} and \textit{U. Zannier} [Bull. Soc. Math. Fr. 129, No. 3, 317--338 (2001; Zbl 0987.14016)] and to modular curves.
