A nearly Kähler manifold \((M, J, g=\langle\cdot,\cdot\rangle)\) is an almost Hermitian manifold with almost complex structure \(J\) for which the tensor field \(\nabla J\) is skew-symmetric. Here \(\nabla\) is the Levi-Civita connection. The authors consider nearly Kähler structures on the product \(G \times G\), where \(G\) is a Lie group with a bi-invariant metric. They extend the Dioos-Vrancken-Wang notion of angle functions for a Lagrangian submanifold of the product of two 3-dimensional spheres \(\mathbb{S}^3\times \mathbb{S}^3\) (see [\textit{B. Dioos} et al., Ann. Global Anal. Geom. 53, No. 1, 39--66 (2018; Zbl 1403.53050)]) to the product \(G \times G\). These angle functions are applied for the characterization of minimal Lagrangian submanifolds in the nearly Kählerian manifold \(G \times G\). The main result of the paper is the following: Theorem. A Lagrangian submanifold in the nearly Kähler manifold \(G \times G\) is minimal if and only if the sum of its angle functions is constant. Some important examples of Lagrangian immersions of the Lie group \(G\) into the nearly Kähler manifold \(G \times G\) are presented.
