The authors deal with the functional equation \[ f(\lambda x+y)+f(\lambda x-y)=f(x+y)+f(x-y)+(\lambda-1)[(\lambda+2)f(x)+\lambda f(-x)], \] (\(\lambda\in\mathbb{N}\setminus\{1\}\)) in quasi-\(\beta\)-normed spaces. They prove that the general solution of that equation has the form \(f(x)=B(x,x)+A(x)\) with a symmetric and bi-additive map \(B\), and an additive map \(A\). Moreover, several results concerning generalized Hyers-Ulam stability are presented, where the norm of the diference between the left- and the right-hand side of the equation considered, is controlled by some contractively subadditive or expansively subadditive function.
