Let \(1<p<\infty\) and \(\ell^p\) be the Banach space of complex sequences \(x=(x_n)_{n=1}^{\infty}\) such that \(\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}|x_n|^p<\infty\). If \(k:{\mathbb R}\times {\mathbb R}\to {\mathbb C}\) satisfies suitable conditions, then \((Kx)_m=\sum_{n=1}^{\infty} k(m,n)x_n\) defines a bounded linear operator on \(\ell^p\), called the operator of multiplicative discrete convolution. Let \(T\) be an arbitrary compact operator on \(\ell^p\). In this paper a Banach subalgebra of \(B(\ell^p)\) which is generated by the operators \(\lambda I-K+T\) \((\lambda \in {\mathbb C})\) is studied. A symbolic calculus for this algebra is constructed. By this calculus a criterion for the Noetherian property is obtained and a formula for the index is given. The maximal ideal space of the mentioned algebra is described, as well.
