This paper introduces the definition of split Lie color algebras with corresponding root spaces, as a special class of Lie color algebras, which is inspired by that of split Lie algebras and split Lie super algebras. And the main results in the paper is about a split Lie color algebra \(L\) with a symmetric root system. In section 2, the author gets a beautiful composition of a centerless perfect \(L\) by the method of connections of roots. In the end, the author characterizes the simplicity of a centerless root-multiplicative \(L\) of maximal length. Moreover, if \(L\) is perfect, then \(L\) is the direct sum of the family of its minimal ideals, each one being a simple split Lie color algebra having all its nonzero roots connected.
