The canonical and boundary representations of the generalized Lorentz group \(G\) acting on a sphere \(\varOmega\) are studied. The manifold \(\varOmega\) is the flag space of the overgroup \(G^*\) of \(G\). A fundamental role in the theory is played by the Berezin transformation, that is, the operator intertwining canonical representations with ''conjugate'' parameters. The canonical representations are defined as the restrictions to \(G\) of the representations from the maximal degenerate series representations of \(G^*\) corresponding to the partition \(n=(n-1) +1\). The Berezin form is introduced as a sesquilinear form whose kernel is obtained from that of the intertwining operator for the representations of \(G^*\). The decomposition of the Berezin form and the construction of the harmonic analysis on a pair of hyperboloids are presented in detail. The advantage of studying the canonical representations and Berezin form globally on the entire sphere \(\varOmega\), in particular on pairs of hyperboloids rather than on each of them separately, is that the integrand in the decomposition of a Berezin form has poles only of the first order. This allows to write the analytic continuation of the decomposition itself in explicit form.
