This work addresses a special case of transport equations, which resembles either the compressible Navier-Stokes (or Euler's when neglecting the dissipation) or the Navier-Stokes-Poisson equation. The considered system originates from the biophysical problem of vasculogenesis. Here its mathematical features are explored: after introducing the rarefaction wave, its asymptotic stability is established. Further, the existence of a boundary layer for the outflow problem is proved and discussed.
