The authors consider the parabolic-parabolic Keller-Segel system of chemotaxis in the whole \(n\)-dimensional space, and the (formal) limit of infinite relaxation time leading to the parabolic-elliptic system. They show that solutions converge to those of the limiting equation under some assumptions on the initial data expressing critical invariance properties of those data and, in the case of global in time solutions, size conditions. The maximal regularity property of the heat semigroup and interpolation of Besov and Lizorkin-Triebel function spaces are used. The two-dimensional case is subtler and optimal results appeared in a subsequent publication [\textit{M. Kurokiba} and \textit{T. Ogawa}, J. Differ. Equations 269, No. 10, 8959--8997 (2020; Zbl 1443.35070)].
