Let \(\mathcal V^{gr}\) be a variety of superalgebras over a field \(F\) of characteristic 0 and let \(c^{gr}_n(\mathcal V^{gr})\), \(n=1,2,\dots\), be its sequence of graded codimensions. By a result of \textit{A. Giambruno, S. Mishchenko}, and \textit{M. Zaicev}, [Commun. Algebra 29, No. 9, 3787-3800 (2001; Zbl 1006.16024)], the sequence of graded codimensions is polynomially bounded if and only if \(\mathcal V^{gr}\) does not contain a list of five superalgebras consisting of the infinite dimensional Grassmann algebra and the algebra of \(2\times 2\) upper triangular matrices with the trivial or the natural \(\mathbb Z_2\)-gradings, and the commutative superalgebra \(F\oplus tF\), where \(t^2=1\) with grading \((F,tF)\). Hence these five superalgebras generate the only varieties of superalgebras with almost polynomial growth. In the paper under review the author completely classifies all subvarieties \(\mathcal V\) of the varieties \(\mathcal V_i\), \(i=1,\dots,5\), generated by each of these five superalgebras. She gives a list of finite dimensional superalgebras such that every proper subvariety \(\mathcal V\) of \(\mathcal V_i\) is generated by the direct sum of an algebra from the list and a nilpotent algebra. This means that for \(n\) sufficiently large the polynomial identities of the subvariety \(\mathcal V\) coincide with the polynomial identities of one of the algebras from the list.
