Let \(X\) be any smooth simply connected complex projective surface and \(K\) be its canonical divisor, \(|L|\) be the linear system associated to the linebundle \(L\). The only two assumptions are: 1) \(L . K<0\) and 2) For any \(0<L',L''<L\) with \(L'+L''=L\) we have \(l'+l''\leq l-2\) where \(l'=\mathrm{dim} |L'|\) and \(l''=\mathrm{dim} |L''|\). The author considers moduli spaces for pure sheaves of dimension one on \(X\), i.e. \(M_X^H(u)\) with \(u=(0,L,\chi(u)=0)\) and \(L\) an effective line bundle, and \(M_X^H(c_n^r)\) with \(c_n^r=r[\mathcal{O}_X]-n[\mathcal{O}_{pt}]\) in the Grothendieck group of \(X\), together with a series of determinant line bundles associated to \(u\) and to \(c_n^r\). Let \(g_L\) denote the arithmetic genus of curves in the linear system \(|L|\). For \(g_L \leq 2\), the author gives upper bounds for dimensions of spaces of sections of determinant line bundles associated to \(c_n^r\). In combination with Göttsche's computation, the result gives a verification of the numerical version of strange duality for some cases.
