This paper originally combines in a novel form two distinct topics in finite group theory: factorised groups (groups that can be written as the product of two subgroups) and vanishing elements (group elements that are evaluated zero by some irreducible character of the group). \par Regarding factorised groups, along the last decades, some relations of permutability between the factors have been considered such as, for instance, total permutability, mutual permutability and tcc-permutability. These permutability relations are inherited by factor groups, and also they guarantee the existence of a minimal normal subgroup contained in one of the factors. The paper is mainly concerned about products of groups that satisfy both particular conditions, which are called ``core-factorisations''. The goal of the paper is to get a better understanding of how the vanishing elements in the factors may control the structure of a group having a core-factorisation. \par The authors prove several results dealing with arithmetical conditions on the conjugacy class sizes of certain vanishing elements. For instance, Theorem 1 tackles the case in which a group with a core-factorisation has no vanishing $p$-elements in the factors for a prime $p$. The paper also contains several results that get information on those groups having a core-factorisation from the conjugacy class sizes of the vanishing elements in the whole group of some elements in the factors. All the results for core-factorisations remain true when the factors are either totally, mutually or tcc-permutable.
