The article is devoted to special functional equations dealing with quasi-arithmetic means in non-degenerate finite measure spaces. A measure space \(\left(S,\sigma,\mu\right)\) is called non-degenerate if there exists a set \(A\in\sigma\) such that \(0<\mu\left(A\right)<\mu\left(S\right)\). The main result of the article is the following statement: Let \(\left(S,{\mathcal L},\lambda\right)\) and \(\left(Y,{\mathcal M},\mu\right)\) be non-degenerate finite measure spaces, and let \(f,g:\,I\to\left(0,\infty\right)\) be continuous bijections, where \(I\subseteq{\mathbb R}\) is a (necessarily open) interval. Then the equation \[ f^{-1}\left(\int_X f\left(g^{-1}\left(\int_Y g\circ h\,d\mu\right)\right)\,d\lambda\right)=g^{-1}\left(\int_Y g\left(f^{-1}\left(\int_X f\circ h\,d\lambda\right)\right)\,d\mu\right) \] is satisfied by every \({\mathcal L}\otimes{\mathcal M}\)-measurable simple function \(h:\,X\times Y\to I\) if and only if \(f=cg\) for some constant \(c\in\left(0,\infty\right)\). This theorem complements a result obtained by \textit{P. Leonetti} et al. [Indag. Math., New Ser. 27, No. 4, 945--953 (2016; Zbl 1377.60010)].
