A Bonnet pair consists of two noncongruent immersions of a surface into \(\mathbb{R}^3\) that induce the same metric and have the same mean curvature function. The paper constructs smooth and real-analytic compact tori in \(\mathbb{R}^3\) forming Bonnet pairs, thereby providing the first compact counterexamples to the global Bonnet problem and to the Cohn-Vossen-Berger problem. The construction uses the theory of isothermic surfaces and their Christoffel duals, reducing the problem to the existence of compact isothermic tori with suitable global properties. By focusing on isothermic surfaces with one family of planar curvature lines, the authors obtain explicit examples via elliptic functions and verify the required closing conditions.
