    A family \({\mathcal C}\) of subsets of a set \(X\) is called a union structure if it is closed under arbitrary unions, and the pair \((X,{\mathcal C})\) is called a union space. The authors introduce generalized closed sets in such spaces and thereby generalize many classical results of Levine. They also introduce continuous functions between union spaces which allow generalizations for many results concerning continuous functions between topological spaces. In addition, they investigate and unify preservation theorems for generalized closed sets by functions between topological spaces. The paper concludes with a decomposition result concerning continuity between union spaces.
