For a sequence \((g_n)\) of independent identically distributed random variables with law \(\mu\) on \(\mathrm{GL}_d(\mathbb{Z})\) the random walk \((x_n)\) on the \(d\)-torus is defined by \(x_n=g_g\cdots g_1x_0\) for \(n\geqslant1\). Write \(G\) for the Zariski closure of the group generated by the support of \(\mu\). \textit{J. Bourgain} et al. [J. Am. Math. Soc. 24, No. 1, 231--280 (2011; Zbl 1239.37005)] showed that if the action of \(G\) is strongly irreducible and proximal on \(\mathbb{R}^d\) then the random walk equidistributes in law to Haar measure on the \(d\)-torus if the initial point \(x_0\) is irrational, and the result is quantitative in the sense that their result gives a rate of convergence in terms of Diophantine properties of \(x_0\). \textit{Y. Benoist} and \textit{J.-F. Quint} [Ann. Math. (2) 178, No. 3, 1017--1059 (2013; Zbl 1279.22013)] and references therein, found results predicated on the group \(G\) being semisimple, in which setting they classified the stationary measures. Here a quantitative equidistribution result is found under the assumption that \(G\) is semisimple.
