The paper is concerned with a fast numerical solution of a first kind boundary integral equation. This integral equation arises from the two-dimensional interior Dirichlet boundary value problem for the Helmholtz equation with a smooth boundary and leads to a discrete sparse system of linear equations. The method requires a nearly linear computational cost to produce and solve the system. The corresponding approximate solution obtained by this proposed method preserves the optimal convergence order. The efficiency and accuracy are demonstrated on one numerical example.
