Let \((M,g,J)\) be a Hermitian manifold with Kähler form \(\omega\). The metric is pluriclosed if \(dd^c \omega=0\), where \(d^{c} =\sqrt{-1}(\bar{\partial}-\partial)\). The Bismut connestion is \(\nabla ^B=\nabla + \frac{1}{2}g^{-1}H\), where \(H=-d^c\omega\) and \(\nabla\) denotes the Levi-Civita connection. A pluriclosed closed metric is Bismut-Hermitian-Einstein if its generalized Ricci form \(\rho_B\) vanishes.\N\NThe author looks at the non-Kähler geometry of a Hermitian manifold endowed with a pluriclosed metric and the Bismut connection. More precisely, the author is interested in the critical points of the generalized Einstein-Hilbert action and discusses the stability of critical points which are defined as pluriclosed steady solitons. The study of the infinitesimal complex structure, the decomposition of variation space as well as properly chosen complex coordinates give the author the opportunity to obtain certain relations for a pluriclosed steady soliton and anti-Hermitian 2-tensor \(\eta\), and its associated 2-form \(\xi\), satisfying the corresponding condition. These relations imply that a compact Bismut-Hermitian-Einstein manifold \((M,g,H,J)\) is linearly stable. This is a non-Kähler analogue of the stability results of Ricci solitons from \N\textit{G. Tian} and \textit{X. Zhu} [``Perelman's W-functional and stability of Kähler-Ricci flow'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:0801.3504}], \N\textit{S. J. Hall} and \textit{T. Murphy} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 139, No. 9, 3327--3337 (2011; Zbl 1231.53056)] and \N\textit{N. Koiso} [Invent. Math. 73, 71--106 (1983; Zbl 0515.53040)]. \NMoreover, if \((M,g,H,J)\) is a compact Bismut-flat, pluriclosed manifold with \((2n-1)\)-positive Ricci cutvature, then there is no essential infinitesimal generalized solitonic deformation on directions of fixing the complex structure. In addition, the author considers the examples of the Hopf surface and the Calabi-Eckman space with their Bismut flat pluriclosed metrics and proves these ones are strictly linear stable on the directions fixing the complex structure.
