Let \(G\) be a finite group. An element \(x\in G\) is a vanishing element if there exists \(\chi\in\mathrm{Irr}(G)\) such that \(\chi(x)=0\). The conjugacy class of a vanishing element is called a vanishing conjugacy class of \(G\). In this paper, the authors considered the problem of determining the least number of conjugacy classes of a finite group \(G\) such that every non-linear irreducible character of \(G\) vanishes on one of them. Moreover, they discuss the related problem of determining the minimum number of non-linear irreducible characters of a group such that two of them have a common zero.
