This paper studies the relationships between a large number of classes of spaces with properties mostly defined using selection principles, among them \(a\)-\(SL\)-spaces, \(H\)-, \(R\)- and \(M\)-Lindelöf spaces as well as many of their generalizations. Typical of the results are the following theorems: (1) Every \(a\)-\(SL\)-space of cardinality less than \(\mathfrak b\) is \(H\)-star Lindelöf, (2) Every a-\(SL\) space of cardinality less than cov\((\mathcal M)\) is \( R\)-star Lindelöf (where cov(\(\mathcal M\)) denotes the minimum cardinality of families of meagre sets which cover \(\mathbb R\)), and (3) If \(X\) is a weakly \(SSL\)-space having countable fan tightness with respect to a dense subspace, then \(X\) is weakly \(M\)-star Lindelöf. A number of diagrams illustrating the relationships between these and other properties and a large bibliography are included.
