The paper presents a discussion on a weaker form of continuity, known as \textit{split continuity}, which was introduced by \textit{G. Beer} et al. in [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 474, No. 2, 833--851 (2019; Zbl 1420.54022)]. It mainly focuses on pointwise convergence of split continuous functions and on the properties of Cauchy split continuous functions. It is proved that the pointwise limit of a sequence \((f_n)\) of split continuous functions from a metric space \((X, d)\) to a complete metric space \((Y, \rho)\) is split continuous if the family \(\{f_n\}\) is equi-split continuous. Here note that a family \(\mathcal{F}\) of split continuous functions from \((X,d)\) to \((Y,\rho)\) is said to be \textit{equi-split continuous} at \(x \in X\) if for every \(\epsilon >0\), there exists \(\delta >0\) such that \N\[\Nf(B_d(x, \delta)) \subseteq B_\rho(f(x), \epsilon) \cup B_\rho(f^*(x), \epsilon)~\forall~ f \in \mathcal{F}.\N\]\NThe notion of Cauchy split continuity actually lies between split continuity and uniform split continuity. Various properties of this class of functions are investigated. Moreover, it is established that a metric space \((X,d)\) is complete if and only if every real-valued continuous function on \((X,d)\) is Cauchy split continuous.
