The authors study the three-dimensional spatial-homogeneous Landau equation with Coulomb potential and initial value in a critical weighted \(L^{3/2}\) space. They establish the existence of global-in-time smooth solutions that are bounded for all positive times. Uniqueness holds for initial values in \(L^p\) spaces with \(p>3/2\). The proof is based on a new \(\varepsilon\)-regularity criterion in the spirit of the Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg theorem, which gives short-time regularisation estimates for the Fisher information. Together with the decay of Fisher information proved by Guillen and Silvestre, this yields global smooth solutions. Their method works for slowly decaying and singular initial data, and gives the first global well-posedness result for the Landau-Coulomb equation with rough initial data.
