      Let \(X_{n}=\{1,2,\ldots,n\}\) be an \(n\)-element set of the first \(n\geq2\) natural numbers under the natural ordering and let \(\mathcal{PT}_n\) and \(\mathcal{I}_n\) denote the partial and injective transformation semigroup on \(X_{n}\), respectively. Let \(\alpha \in \mathcal{PT}_n\) and \(\text{dom }\alpha = \{a_1 < a_2 < \cdots < a_m\}\), with \(0 \leq m \leq n\). Then \(\alpha\) is called \textit{orientation-preserving} if the sequence of its images \((a_1\alpha, a_2\alpha, \ldots, a_m\alpha)\) is cyclic, that is, there exists no more than one index \(i \in \{1, \ldots, m\}\) such that \(a_i\alpha > a_{i+1}\alpha\), where \(a_{m+1}\) denotes \(a_1\). A transformation \(\alpha \in \mathcal{PT}_n\) is called \textit{order-preserving} if \(x \leq y\) implies \(x\alpha \leq y\alpha\) for all \(x,y\) in the domain of \(\alpha\) and \(\alpha\) is called \textit{decreasing} if \(x\alpha \leq x\) for all \(x\) in the domain of \(\alpha\). Let \(\mathcal{POD}_n\) (respectively, \(\mathcal{POPD}_n\)) be the subsemigroup of \(\mathcal{PT}_n\) of all order-preserving (respectively, orientation-preserving) and decreasing partial transformations on \(X_n\) and let \(\mathcal{PODI}_{n} = \mathcal{POD}_n \cap \mathcal{I}_n\) and \(\mathcal{POPDI}_{n} = \mathcal{POPD}_n \cap \mathcal{I}_n\). Further, for \(1 \leq r \leq n\), let \(\mathcal{PODI}(n,r) = \{\alpha \in \mathcal{PODI}_n : |\text{im }(\alpha)| \leq r\}\) and \(\mathcal{POPDI}(n,r) = \{\alpha \in \mathcal{POPDI}_n : |\text{im }(\alpha)| \leq r\}\). In the paper under review, the authors study the semigroups \(\mathcal{PODI}(n,r)\) and \(\mathcal{POPDI}(n,r)\) for \(1 \leq r \leq n\). They determine the unique minimal generating set of \(\mathcal{PODI}(n,r)\) and \(\mathcal{POPDI}(n,r)\), respectively and compute their rank. Finally, the authors investigate the cardinality and rank of the nilpotent subsemigroup of \(\mathcal{PODI}(n,r)\).
