Let \(G\) be a group and \(\varphi \in \mathrm{Aut}(G)\). Two elements \(x, y \in G\) are \(\phi\)-conjugate if there exists \(g \in G\) such that \(x=g^{-1}yg^{\phi}\). Moreover, a \(\varphi\)-conjugation is an equivalence relation. The number of equivalence classes is called the Reidemeister number of \(\varphi\). The group \(G\) has the \(R_{\infty}\)-property if all its automorphisms have infinite Reidemeister number.\N\NIn the paper under review, the authors show that the \(R_{\infty}\)-property is not invariant under abstract commensurability within the class of finitely generated torsion-free nilpotent groups. They provide counterexamples within a family of nilpotent groups of class two associated with edge-weighted graphs. These groups are abstractly commensurable to nilpotent quotients of class two of right-angled Artin groups. A key tool in their study is the Mal'cev Lie algebra associated with a nilpotent group, which serves as an invariant under abstract commensurability.
