In this paper the authors give an explicit finite presentation of the universal covering of a centreless Lie torus in type \(\neq A,C,BC\). Centreless Lie tori are a special class of complex Lie algebras which are simultaneously graded by the root system of a finite-dimensional simple Lie subalgebra, and by a free abelian group of finite rank. Centreless Lie tori have been characterised as being exactly the centreless cores of extended affine Lie algebras, see \textit{Y. Yoshii} [Publ. Res. Inst. Math. Sci. 42, No. 3, 739--762 (2006; Zbl 1148.17017)]. Examples include simple complex Lie algebras and the derived subalgebras of affine Kac-Moody algebras; in these cases the presentation obtained in this paper is the well-known Serre-like presentation.
