    Let \(V\) stand for the surface defined as the intersection of the two quadrics \[ x_0x_1- x^2_2= 0,\quad (x_0+ x_1+ x_3) x_3- x_2 x_4= 0\quad\text{in }\mathbb P^4. \] It is a split singular del Pezzo surface of singularity type \(\mathbb A_3\), containing four lines. Let \(U\) be the open subset of \(V\) formed by removing the lines and let \(N(U, B)\) stand for the number of points in \(U(\mathbb Q)\) of height at most \(B\). On passing to the universal torsor over \(V\), the author defines a bijection between the set \(U(\mathbb Q)\) and a certain set of integral points of an open subset of an affine variety in \(\mathbb A^{10}\). The author determines the number of the integral points in question, proves that \[ N(U, B)= cB(\log B)^5(1+ O(1/\log B)) \] as \(B\to\infty\), with an explicitly given constant \(c\), and thereby confirms that the set \(V(\mathbb Q)\) of the rational points of \(V\) satisfies the well-known conjectures, stated in the works of V. V. Batyrev, Yu. I. Manin, and E. Peyre.
